Measurement Lab
In Lab I, students focus on applying chemical engineering principles like fluid mechanics, as well as heat and mass transfer, to lab experiments. These experiments have been custom-designed in the last four years, and are continuously improved using student feedback.
Foundations of Lab Safety
Students learn safe laboratory practices that will serve them well in future industrial settings. These include:
The importance of personal protective equipment
Understanding Safety Data Sheets and lab equipment hazards
Proper chemical disposal practices and lab safety procedures
Measurement Lab
This project bolsters student-driven experiment design. The robust environment provided by the ChIL uses cutting edge technology to aid students in experiment design and presentation.
Over 50 different measurement devices are available for diverse experiment design.
Vernier LoggerPro Software records a multitude of devices at a high quality and rate.
A Statistics component teaches data analysis techniques utilizing MATLAB toolboxes.
Final electronic poster presentation of student-based design develops professional skills.
